Looking at various Ulster American family stories using the song by Mary Chapin Carpenter and the legacy of Mary Snoddy Black in South Carolina. Black collected all the family quilts over generations to help tell the story of their family history.
David looks at a goodly number of other family stories under this umbrella,surnames including Donelson, McDowell, Lyle, Witherspoon, Brice and Gilliland among others.
Dr David Hume is a well-known local historian, radio and television broadcaster and author of several books including those tracing emigrant histories. He is a prominent figure within the Ulster Scots community and is an Honorary Citizen of Clover, South Carolina. His Knox and Hume ancestors came to Ulster from Scotland in the 17th century.
