Previously Mary held the role of Head Of Digitisation, overseeing teams responsible for digitising and publishing millions of historic records and newspapers annually.
She holds a Masters degree from Queens University Belfast and is currently pursuing her PhD at Birbeck, University of London. Her PhD thesis, titled “Bureaucratic Graffiti” focuses on marginalia discovered in the 1921 Census of England and Wales.
Mary has featured on BBC Morning Live,BBC Women’s Hour,and Dan Snow’s History Hit podcast, and has presented at conferences throughout the UK,Ireland and America.
