Guide to Contents of North Irish Roots

Searchable Guide to the contents of Journal volumes 1984-2021 and its links with JSTOR

The North of Ireland Family History Society is over 40 years old and in that time has regularly produced a highly-regarded journal, packed with useful information for people researching their roots. Although back copies of the journals are available online on JSTOR, until now there has not been a searchable Guide to the wealth of content the volumes contain.

During 2021-22, the Journal Editor (Audrey McKeown) co-ordinated an international team of NIFHS members to produce an electronic Guide of 262 pages covering 75 volumes of the Journal.

Current NIFHS members can now search for their ancestral surnames as well as places where their ancestors may have lived both in Ireland and world-wide. They can also find key and less well-known family history resources including websites, transcriptions, books reviews, etc.  In addition, a comprehensive list of Family Tree Pedigrees currently held at Public Record Office, Belfast was compiled by Stanley Nesbitt, NIFHS in North Irish Roots Journal in 2006.  An extensive table of 1,240 surnames/pedigrees is included towards the end of the Guide.

When Members find the articles they want to research further, they can login to the NIFHS page on JSTOR and locate the articles of interest.
