Description
County Tyrone lies in the middle of the Province of Ulster and is the largest county within Northern Ireland. It is bounded on the east by Lough Neagh, the largest lake in Ireland, on the north-east by Co. Londonderry, on the north-west by Co. Donegal, on the south-west by Co. Fermanagh, on the south by Co. Monaghan and on the south-east by Co. Armagh. The county has been inhabited for over 6,000 years and has links with St. Patrick. It was created a county in 1585.
